জনপ্রিয়তা বুঝতে ‘নিয়ন্ত্রণ’ ছাড়া নির্বাচন দেওয়ার আহ্বান ফখরুলের

কারা বেশি জনপ্রিয়- সেটা বুঝতে সরকারকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ ছাড়া নির্বাচন দিতে বলেছেন বিএনপি মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর। ফখরুল বলেন, 'পুলিশ ও সরকারের নিয়ন্ত্রণ ছাড়া নিরপেক্ষা নির্বাচন হলেই বোঝা যাবে কাদর জনপ্রিয়তা আছে, আর কাদের নেই।'
শুক্রবার বিএনপির নবগঠিত মহানগর উত্তর ও দক্ষিণ কমিটির নেতাদের নিয়ে বিএনপির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা জিয়াউর রহমানের কবরে শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন করতে গিয়ে নিজের বক্তব্যে এমন মন্তব্য করেন বিএনপি মহাসচিব।
ফখরুল ইসলাম বলেন, ‘আগামী নির্বাচনের জন্য একটি নিরপেক্ষ সহায়ক সরকার দরকার। যদি তা না হয়, তাহলে জনগণ মেনে নিবে না।’
বিএনপি মহাসচিব যোগ করেছেন, ‘এই সরকার অগণতান্ত্রিক, একনায়কতান্ত্রিক। এই সরকারের অধীনে কোন নির্বাচন অবাধ ও সুষ্ঠু হবে না। আওয়ামী লীগের সময় কোন নির্বাচনই সুষ্ঠু হয়নি।’
এ দিকে, হাওরের দুর্গত এলাকায় বিএনপিকে ত্রাণ নিয়ে ঢুকতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না বলেও অভিযোগ করেছেন বিএনপি মহাসচিব।
তিনি বলেন, ‘প্রধানমন্ত্রীর যাওয়ার কথা রয়েছে সুনামগঞ্জে। তার আগে আমাদের কোন টিমকে সেখানে যেতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না।’ প্রয়োজন হলে বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন বেগম খালেদা জিয়াও সুনামগঞ্জের হাওর দুর্গত অঞ্চলে যাবেন বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন তিনি।
