পশ্চিম তীরের দখলকৃত অঞ্চলে হামলার অভিযোগে ১৫ বছর বয়সী এক ফিলিস্তিনি শিশুকে ১৮ বছরের কারাদণ্ড দিয়েছেন ইসরায়েলের একটি আদালত। এছাড়াও তাকে তিন লাখ শেকেল (প্রায় ৮৩ হাজার ৩৩৩ মার্কিন ডলার) জরিমানা করা হয়েছে। ফিলিস্তিনি বন্দী বিষয়ক সংস্থা প্যালেস্টাইনিয়ান প্রিজনার সোসাইটি রোববার (১৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি) এই তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছে।

মোহাম্মদ বাসেল জালবানি নামের ওই শিশুটি পূর্ব জেরুজালেমের শুফাত শরণার্থী শিবিরের বাসিন্দা। ২০২৩ সালের ১৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি ইসরায়েলি দখলদারিত্বের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিরোধ করার অভিযোগে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। গ্রেপ্তারের সময় তার পরিবারের বাড়িও ধ্বংস করে ইসরায়েলি বাহিনী।
জালবানির বিরুদ্ধে ২০২৩ সালে শুফাত শিবিরের একটি চেকপয়েন্টে এক ইসরায়েলি সৈন্য হত্যার অভিযোগও আনা হয়েছে।
বর্তমানে ইসরায়েলি কারাগারে অন্তত ১৪ হাজার ৫০০ ফিলিস্তিনি বন্দী রয়েছে, যার মধ্যে ১ হাজার ১১৫ জন শিশু। এই ঘটনায় ফিলিস্তিনি শিশুদের প্রতি ইসরায়েলি নৃশংসতার সমালোচনা আরও তীব্র হয়েছে।
গাজা যুদ্ধ শুরুর পর থেকে দখলকৃত পশ্চিম তীরে ইসরায়েলি সেনাবাহিনী ও অবৈধ বসতি স্থাপনকারীদের হামলায় অন্তত ৯১৫ জন ফিলিস্তিনি নিহত এবং প্রায় সাত হাজার আহত হয়েছে।
