ন্যাটো প্রধান জেনস স্টলটেনবার্গ বলেছেন যে ইউক্রেন যুদ্ধের কোন দ্রুত সমাপ্তি হবে না। তিনি বলেন, বেশিরভাগ যুদ্ধ প্রথম শুরু হওয়ার সময় প্রত্যাশার চেয়ে বেশি সময় ধরে চলে। তাই আমাদের অবশ্যই ইউক্রেনে দীর্ঘ যুদ্ধের জন্য নিজেদের প্রস্তুত করতে হবে।

স্টলটেনবার্গ বলেন, যুদ্ধের সমাপ্তির জন্য রাশিয়াকে যুদ্ধ বন্ধ করতে হবে। তবে একই সময়ে আমাদের অবশ্যই স্বীকার করতে হবে যে যদি প্রেসিডেন্ট জেলেনস্কি এবং ইউক্রেনীয়রা যদি যুদ্ধ বন্ধ করে দেয়, তাহলে দেশটি বিলুপ্ত হয়ে যাবে।
ন্যাটোজোটে যোগদানে ইউক্রেনের উচ্চাকাক্সক্ষা সম্পর্কে স্টলটেনবার্গ বলেন, ‘এতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই যে ইউক্রেন শেষ পর্যন্ত ন্যাটোতে থাকবে।’
স্টলটেনবার্গ আরও বলেন, ‘যখন এই যুদ্ধ শেষ হবে, তখন আমাদের ইউক্রেনের নিরাপত্তার নিশ্চয়তা দরকার হবে। অন্যথায় ইতিহাসের পুনরাবৃত্তি ঘটতে পারে।’
